This is a good phone for making calls, texting and some browsing. You can not enjoy long videos on this phone because of its small screen size which is just 3 inches, but if you are using a smartphone for the first time it is a decent phone and it will not disappoint you.

On the back it has a 2mp camera and  it also makes QVGA video@15fps
The samsung galaxy y is not fast and it takes some time to load apps.

Galaxy comes with a standard android browser but due to the small processor and low resolution display of the phone is not good, there a pinch to zoom functionality but there is no text reflow when zoomed in

The build quality of the Galaxy Y is sturdy with no flex in the handset when pressure is applied. The back cover is plastic but it fits snugly on the phone and when removed feels thick enough not to be a worry.

As with all Android devices the Galaxy Y comes with Google Maps pre-loaded and it is really the only map solution you need. Thanks to the A-GPS on board your Galaxy Y can also be your sat-nav, with Google's free turn by turn navigation is also included. The small screen size can make it hard to view the directions on screen while driving, but it's not bad for a budget phone.

It is lightweight, pocket friendly, comfortable to hold and Samsung's TouchWiz interface makes it easy to use which will suit first time smartphone users who are likely to be drawn to this handset.

Unfortunately samsung galaxy y has some downfalls, the camera is not good and the screen resolution is average.

FINAL VERDICT

This is not the best phone around in this range, there are many other phones which are quite better than this, so if you are looking for a  phone that has android on board and you just want to make some calls and browse a little bit, then this is good for you.
